What a fun field trip!

Field trips...

We took our last field trip Friday....going to a Native American village. We did three activities: walking through the different stages of a forest on a hike; touring the Native American village; and making a necklace from dentilium shells and glass beads.

We saw a river canoe made from one redwood log. Native American canoes have parts of it named after the body: the heart, the lungs, etc.Amy joined us on our trip...
Sam and his sister, Sarah, had to split their mom. Ms. H had just finished her two week solo, but she came on our field trip with us. Mrs. J usually gives student teachers the day off following their solo. Ms. H won't be here Tuesday.

Ranger M told us all about the brush dance and showed us where it is done.
Mrs. J also had fun trying out her new camera. My goal was to take everyone's photo, but it didn't happen... ran out of time!

Austin was actually the first person I took photos of. I was trying to decide where to take them. After putting them on the computer, I wish I had taken them in front of the wood. I think I like this next one of Austin the best.
