Teaching elementary school students is a wonderful way to make a living. I have always felt teaching was more of a hobby than a job. I hope to use this blog as another tool of communication with the families of the students who live in Room 17 for their 4th grade year.

O'Keeffe painters!
Yesterday, Ms. van Ark taught Room 8 about Georgia O'Keeffe. After learning a little about her life and seeing some of her paintings, we tried our hand at painting flowers. Drawing the flowers LARGE was the key...
Once our flowers were drawn, Ms. van Ark showed us how to watercolor. We painted for close to an hour, with many Room 8ers painting more than one...I think Nate even painted three!
Georgia O'Keeffe is my favorite painter. I especially like her paintings of cow skulls and flowers. I'm so glad the students are expressing themselves in the manner of famous artists. Keep up the great teaching! SAS
