Mrs. W has been teaching Room 8 about the early European explorers who came to what we now call "California." These explorers: Cabrillo, Cortes (also spelled Cortez), Vizcaino, Drake...and others. We've learned that most of them came from Spain - except Sir Francis Drake, who was a PIRATE or SEA DOG...and he came from England.Culminating this section of social studies, we're making "Fortunately/Unfortunately" books about 0ne of these explorers. They're turning out wonderful:
