After our morning run, Lauren, our high school student, shared her bag. We learned about how much she loves sports - especially softball and volleyball. Then Ms. Layer shared her bag. She talked about how important a dictionary is to her and she also shared her love of gymnastics and showed us her gymnastics shirt.

We learned how to do the activity called SET. This is done on the overhead and deals with attributes on cards. The class caught on SO fast.

During our math time, we had centers. The class was divided in thirds and each activity lasted about 20 minutes. The center with Mrs. V was a place value game. Mrs. V would roll the dice and the students would try to create the highest number and then practice reading the numbers. Ms. Layer led her group in the multiplication bingo game called Quizmo. In my group, we learned an activity called 'Skillboard Math' which is basically a mental math activity.

After lunch, we started an art project I call the 'Name Hanger.' You will see those hanging during Back-to-School Night. The class was so excited to color...their hangers are turning out beautiful!

READING LOGS!!! Today we set up the LEARNING LOG under WEEK 2 for next weeks READING LOG! Ask your child to show this to you. We will set this up on Fridays so reading toward the log can begin on the weekend IF you choose. We will talk all about this at Back-to-School Night. I hope to see you there, Wednesday, Sept. 6, at 6:30p.m.
