Meet Gene!

 Meet Gene!
He started sharing his bag with this "little tiny book that's a New Testament".

"You should all know what's next," he said.
Gene pulled out this book.  He loves reading, he loves books, and he loves the library!
He told us his next house would be a library!
"You all might know what this is...an agate!"
He said he loves agates and he loves rocks.
One of our room 17ers asked about agates.
Gene told us you can tell them because they have milky stuff on them,
but they can be crystal clear.
He showed us several.
This is a 'gigantic shell I found when I was a kid.'
This bottle is salt from Death Valley.
Again, some Room 17ers had questions.
Gene told us Death Valley was in California.
His uncle is a geologist and gave the salt to Gene.
We asked if he had been to Death Valley...
but he said no.

"Mugsie, you should know what this is.  Henry should know," Gene began.
 Pokemon cards!
I made a comment about not understanding how they work.
Gene explained the different colored borders meant they were a certain type of card...
plus there were other numbers and things that most of Room 17 (except their teacher) understood.
Gene pulled out his New Testament again.
He told Room 17 that he had read from it to them before....and maybe they remembered?
He said he read Exodus 3:8 which depicts Canaan as the land of milk and honey.
He then said he could read the Bible in different languages and could say "God" in different languages.  He opened his New Testament to these pages and tried to read them.
Room 17 was impressed with all the different types of languages!

Wow, Gene!  We enjoyed hearing all about what you had to share!
