Punk Rock Day

Friday was a 'spirit' day at school...and the theme was "Punk Rock!"  Not everyone dressed up,but heres the one who did in Room 5!

Unfortunately, I didn't get all of Rian's outfit...she definitely looked the part!
 Hailee...she loves lime green!
Buddies!  Hailee, Rian, and Alexis!  (Alexis JUST got her hair cut!)
Katelin had her hair colored pink... and had it crimped!
Whoa, Jullian!  Look at the chains the make up... definitely Punk Rock... and she has her little alien friend to go along with "THE LOOK!"
 Kasey...aren't the pigtails cute?
Phoebe also loves lime green...and purple...notice the streaks in her hair?
Kyrie did have green hair...and had told me she wanted it to 'just be blond'... but then Friday morning when she walked in... she told me she dyed her hair purple, but it came out 'kind of blue' :)
 Eric!  NINJA!!!
Anna wore her bandana... looking very adorable... and a bit punk rock-ish!

Anna had asked me what 'Punk Rock' had to do with a 'spirit day'....  I told her a spirit day was like a fun day.... a day when everyone can do something like a family... and it's just FUN!

She understood...and I think a lot of Room 5ers understood it a bit more!

Measuring with our buddies

We had buddies today!  We first measured things with rulers.  Our little buddies are just learning about rulers, both for measuring and for using as a straightedge.  We did both!

After measuring, we read their 'decodable' books.  For most, that went pretty fast...

Last but not least...Ms. Wood put Twitches, the rabbit, on the carpet while we all sat around and watched.  When the rabbit would come to us, we could pet him, but we couldn't make any quick moves...it would scare him.

This collage of pictures will be in either our next newsletter, or the following month.

Frisbee

We've been playing frisbee recently for P.E.  Rian was cheering because...well, I'm not sure why...probably just because Rian is almost happy!
Hailee was looking at her teacher holding the camera... she smiled...I told her I was waiting for an action shot..so she did a little action!
Kaitlin and Kyler were partnered up...and geez, they were both SO GOOD!

How many cowboys do you see playing frisbee?  Just ask Nathaniel!
I love this picture of Kasey!  She was having fun!
Phoebe was getting ready to throw the frisbee!  Don't you love her purple boots?
Eric and Travis were partners...
Ms. B was impressed with Room 5's frisbee throwing!
She decided to join in and show some of the kids how it was done!
Whoa!  Anthony was letting his frisbee fly!

Here goes Alexis!
Kyrie, sporting some green hair, (although she said she wanted to let it go back to blond(...was doing a good job with her frisbee throwing!
There's our cowboy again!  Nathaniel the cowboy :)
Brady was doing a good job with his frisbee!
Kaitlin was also really throwing hte frisbee well!
Rian, once again!
More action from Hailee!
Good throw, Kasey!
Serenity did a great job of throwing the frisbee back!
Ahhh, here's our purple-booted Phoebe again !

Meet Anna!  Anna just moved into Room 5 last week!  She's a doll and we're glad to have her!

Meet Ms. B!

 Meet Ms. B!

Room 5 is excited to have Ms. B join us for this semester.  She's studying to be a teacher and this is her semester to practice.  Last semester we had Mrs. P, who we also loved...we miss her, but are also excited to have Ms.B.

I asked her on Wednesday, (she just started on Tuesday), if she wanted to teach a lesson on Thursday.  She said she'd like to...she did...and Wow!  Ms. B. is definitely a natural teacher.
Ms. B is from southern California...she's actually from the same city that Mrs. P is from!  How ironic is that?  Ms. B told me her mother is also a teacher...a 3rd grade teacher.
Welcome to Room 5, Ms. B!
