There were 10 hula-hoops set up in the gym, 5 on each side. On one side, the hoops had individual letters in the center. On the opposite side of the gym, Room 8 was lined up into teams. When Miss C gave the word, the first person in each line would race to the other side, retrieve ONE letter, and race back to the opposite side and place the letter in the empty hula-hoop. The next person in line would then run to the hoop with letters, and retrieve the next letter...until the word was spelled.
When a team completed their word, they would raise their hand so Miss C could check.
To spice things up, the teams only actually RAN once. Miss C made it interesting by having them run backwards, hop on one foot, jump on both feet, run sideways...and the bear crawl!
