Help for Haiti

Monday, as we were talking about Haiti, I asked Room 8 if they would like to do something to help.

"Like what?" was the question they asked me.

I simply suggested we put a jar...or can in the classroom and they could bring in some donations. They had a different idea...

"A BAKE SALE!" They kept talking about it...but I told them I didn't think we could do that. They wanted me to ask Ms. R if we could...

I did...and she said 'Absolutely!'... that was Monday afternoon.
Yesterday, Thursday, Room 8 held a bake sale. Room 8ers and their parents baked...and baked...and some bought some items at the store...
We set up before the first group ate lunch...and we sold just during the lunch recess.
By the time they left for the day, I had counted $400...
but by the time I finished counting before I went home...
the bake sale made...
$501.42....

It was amazing...

There is group of doctors going to Haiti, 2 of which are from our county's largest town, that we are giving our money to. They take $0.00 for administrative costs, which means every cent will go to Haiti...to life saving medicine and/or medical supplies.

Well done, Room 8!

Congrats Room 8ers on a job well done! The treats I bought are long gone now and were delicious. I can claim that I ate the cookie in your photo. My kinderpeeps loved their treats, too. Thanks also to Logan T.'s mom for baking and then buying us a bag of Snickerdoodles...my all-time favorite cookie!!
