We had Pumpkin Day in Room 5! We did this in centers... 4 centers.
Most students brought in a pumpkin...those who didn't, got to share with a friend. We measured the pumpkins - weight, diameter, circumference, height, volume....
Measuring our pumpkins was one of the four centers...
|
Another center was drawing and writing about the pumpkin... |
A third center was coloring a page for the local newspapers coloring contest....
A fourth center was...making spider bread! Yum! Thanks to Tammy, Will's mom, for coming in to help. Using frozen bread dough rolls, they were thawed - of course - and then each student got two rolls. With one roll, 4 long legs were made...with the other roll, it was divided with one part being the head and one the body.
Ahhh, some of the pumpkins!
Mrs. P was in charge of the center where we drew and wrote about our pumpkin...
Here's Tammy showing how to make the spider bread...
When Mrs. T came, she joined in with the spider fun... she even made a lot more that night for her own kids!
|
Here's a 'spider' ready to be baked. After forming them, we brushed them with egg and sprinkled with poppy seeds and/or sesame seeds. |
Ms. C's class came in to use our scales to weigh their pumpkins. Our Rian had a pretty small pumpkin, but someone in Ms. C's class had one even smaller!
We, of course, needed a group pumpkin picture...so outside we went with our pumpkins.
Josslynn was trying to balance her pumpkin on her head...
While Sean was just trying to carry a pumpkin!
Anthony also had a big pumpkin to carry...
Look at Mrs. P... now I know she didn't bring a pumpkin...so who got her to carry theirs?
This year, we didn't have school on Halloween or the day after. (A brilliant idea...only because of too much candy and late nights to have success on November 1!) That left the dilemma about one of the mottos of Room 5:
We work hard, but we like to party hard!
Not a problem! Moms to the rescue!!!
As you can see, we had witches fingers.... Yum...
|
We had werewolf cupcakes... |
We had sugar cookies to decorate....
Wait, do you see Will and Katelin's moms? THANK YOU!!!
We simply had a little party!
Anthony was loving it!
Jillian was loving it, too!
We all loved it, actually! Thank you to Tammy for organizing...and thank you to all our families who contributed.
