December 7th Friday groups

Ms. C had been teaching for the week for her solo.  But on Friday, we did our 'Friday groups' like normal!  Ms. C was working with the crocheting group...
Jade was trying to figure it out...
Mikayla was carefully listening to instructions...
Little Miss Ava was busy being a student while her mama, Sonja, helped with the cooking group!
David...tried his hand at grating cheese..we were making scones!
Little Miss Ava continued to work...
Aliya was cutting up the butter into the flour...
Hey Austin...you need to look at what you're doing!  He was also cutting butter into flour.  We were actually making two different recipes of scones...
Micah tried his hand at grating the cheese...with a little help from Rachel!
David also cut in some butter...
 Hannah looks like an expert!
Cole didn't know what to think of all that cheese!
Outside with the woodworking group, Isabella was hard at work sawing...
 as was Ashlynn....
 and Jason...
Sawyer was a bit behind since he'd been out sick...he was measuring the inch he needed to cut off the end of his board.
Cameron was ready to cut off the inch at the end...
Mr. C helped Jayden get started.  It was hard to get that cut started!
Gretchen helped Aaron get started on his...
Someone, not Hannah, had accidently dropped the yoke in with the egg white.  Sonja came to the rescue...
The dough for the scones had to be kneaded just a bit...Micah was right in there to do it!
Looks like the chocolate chip/orange scones are about ready to go in the oven.  First, Amara put some egg white over the top...
You may notice how much David is enjoying kneading the cheese scones...
Sonja showed Aliya how to use your fingers to spread the egg white...
and then Aliya was just fine on her own...
 Austin was pretty impressed...

Hannah, being a cook herself, was watching to make sure it was all done properly....it was!
Back at the crocheting group, Mikayla was making progress with her first chain...
Alex was working hard on his too..
 as was Elaine...
and Cayden...
 Jade caught on really fast...
 Hi Trenton!
Back outside, Ashlynn was working on her diagonal corners.  Looks like one is complete and she's starting on the second one.
Isabella got a little help measuring from Gretchen...
Sabrina was being extremely careful with her measuring...
Jason is busy with his sawing...but he's still got his pencil in hand in case he wants to make an adjustment.
Sabrina needed a measuring tape and Lura was quick to get her one...
Cameron is using the two-handed grip to saw...
Looks like now Sawyer has all the corners marked...and he's starting to saw on the first one...
Jayden is hard at work...
Looking good, Aaron!
See how Isabella is holding the board with her left hand?  I think that really helps keep the wood steady.
The cooking group had the scones in the oven and were starting to clean up.   Looks like Amara, Austin, and Micah were on clean up duty.
Oh, David was part of that crew...
Hannah joined in...and Rachel was overseeing the operation...
Back at the ranch classroom, the crocheters were making steady progress...Mikayla is trying to figure out where to put the next stitch...and it looks like Zoe is...well, I don't think she's hard at work crocheting!
 Alex looks totally enthusiastic!
WOW!  Look how much Jade has done in one day!
Lauri was giving a bit of assistance to Elaine...
 Cayden? Where's your crochet hook?
Ms. C is explaining something to Mikayla and to Zoe...
Jayden was using the belt sander for his board.  It looks like Mr. C was examining it to make sure he was ready to move on.
Sawyer saw others with the two-handed approach...I guess he decided to try.  What some of you may  not realize, sawing with the hand saw is HARD work!  I have had many Room 5ers tell me their hands felt like they were going to fall off!  (I'm assuming that was an exaggeration!)
Poor Isabella was about to give out on sawing...
Aaron was starting on the second corner cut...
Sabrina was taking a little break from sawing...
Wait a minute!  Is that Gretchen?
I'm not sure what Mr. C and Isabella were doing here...
Lura was helping Ashlynn measure for her dowels...
Jayden was definitely proud of his woodworking!
I had to take a picture of this hard earned corner piece of Sabrina's!
Isabella is still adorable in her safety glasses!
Cameron was getting ready to drill...punching a little hole first - I think!
 Sawyer
Mr. C was giving Aaron a few pointers...
Looks like Gretchen gave Jayden some help with the drill...
OH BOY!  The scones are ready!  We had two kinds....one was chocolate chip/orange and the other was a cheese (sharp cheddar cheese with a hint of cayenne pepper)... After each Room 5er had had a piece of  both, I took a survey to see which one they liked the best.  I KNEW they'd love the chocolate chip/orange one the best, but I was wrong!

 They were both delicious....
well done, Cooking Group!

Another great day of Friday groups!
