Art in the Sky

Last week, every student came together to create a picture of an egret on our playground.
The school collected blue jeans...this was the water... Our phenomenal Parent Club organized the event.
Sarah didn't want her photo taken, but I just ignored her and took it anyway. Rachel, our Parent Club president, didn't mind at all. They worked so hard to have all this come together.
At 10 a.m. on Wednesday, we all went outside by class. Most everyone wore either white or gray...those that didn't have on one of those two colors were given a white shirt to put on over whatever they were wearing.
The fire truck came...lifting the basket high into the sky. This is where the final photographs would be taken.
The Parent Club was prepared with their Starbucks...they'd been there long before 10 a.m.

The students were lined up by class...
Daniel, the man who orchestrated the whole affair, climbed up onto the firetruck so he could get situated in the basket.

From the basket, Daniel gave instructions through his megaphone...telling us where to go, where to stand, where to lay.

Those in gray were shadows on the picture...
Emilee was excited to see her dad who works for the fire department...

You can see the wood chips next to the jeans...this created the outline of the egret...

Walking onto the egret, you had to be careful not to step on or mess up the wood chips...this would mess up the outline...

Some of us had to lay down...others had to kneel down and lean over so more of the white from our shirts would show... and look at what we created!
Amazing!

Thank you, Parent Club!
