It was glorious weather... the apples were beautiful on the trees...
We were divided into 4 groups... Suzie was one of the leaders...
She told us about the different parts of the plant...
We listened intently...
or maybe we were slightly sidetracked by this:
Aren't the apples gorgeous?
Suzie had cards...we were in two lines...the first person picked a card, figured out which category it belonged in...raced to these baskets, and put the picture in the correct one. Then you ran back to your line, tagged the next person, and off we went again...it was a relay race.
Even Austin's twin sisters got to taste them!
Oh my...can you tell she's enjoying the taste of the apple?
The apple farm is getting ready for Halloween!
Erin led another group... she gave clues for plants around the farm and we had to draw what we thought it was...
As I'm writing this, I realize I'm not sure what the fourth center did! Was it something with insects?
Amara has a clipboard in her hand??? Maybe this was still Erin's center...
I think Jayden and Cayden have an insect magnifying box in their hand....
Here we were changing stations...
Erin was explaining a plant...
Mrs. B was snapping pictures...
You may notice that this photographer (me!) was once again back at the tasting center...
Isabella was enjoying her time at the apple farm...
It was a little tricky getting our bus parked...but DD did it!
Cindy and the twins... Austin's twin sisters...aren't they adorable?
The apple bell....

In the picture below, Betty, one of the owners of the apple farm, is telling us how the farm works...
Room 5 was fortunate to have so many of our parents join us. Jon joined us...this is Aliya's dad...
Lauri joined us...this is Sabrina's mom...
Sonja joined us, too... she is Isabella's mom...
Amara's mom joined us, along with her precious little brother,...she has the most beautiful voice!
Isn't he a doll?
I love, love, love this picture! Sharing his apple with his mama!
Arley and Betty answered our questions at the end. Arley is Betty's son and he also works at the farm. He told me his apple pie recipe. I couldn't stop thinking about it...so went back out to the farm after school on Thursday, bought 5 macintosh and 5 jonathan apples for the pie (and a bunch more just to eat!)... came home and made my pastry... then peeled and sliced the apples, mixed them with 1/2 cup of brown sugar, 1/2 cup of white sugar, 3 Tablespoons of flour, and a dash or two or three of cinnamon....mixed it all up and put it in the crust, dotted it with butter, put the top crust on and stuck it in my preheated 425 degree oven. After 15 minutes, I turned it down to 350 and left it for another 45 minutes. It was starting to bubble.
It's absolutely delicious! Thank you Arley! I just finished my second piece of the day...they were small, but one piece wasn't enough.
Erica was there...she is Cameron's mom...
Well, all good things must come to an end... and so we loaded the bus to head back to school...
As you can tell from Isabella, Kylee, and Sabrina, it was a fun day!
