Playing before dinner

After our first round of field studies, we were back at the lodge with some free time before dinner.

Many of us were ready to climb up on 'Stumpy' ... the stump in the middle of the field. 

This is the lodge...

Inside the lodge, some were hanging out making signs for their cabins...

or playing games...

The outdoor school even had some hula hoops!  Good job keeping it up, Elaine!

Some wanted to just hang out and visit...

and practice the sign the rangers use for quiet... Wolf's ears are up so he can listen...

Some, like Jason, got their cameras out to take pictures of their buddies...

 While we were all out playing, one of our boys' groups were busy setting up for dinner. 

 John was keeping them all on task...

 Cups needed to be put at all the places... Anthony and Tobias had this as one of their jobs...

 Hunter put the napkins on the tables....

Jason put bowls of salad at each table...

 When it was time to eat, Rachel and Cheryl were two of the moms serving us...

We had two kinds of lasagna...meat and vegetarian...both delicious!

I don't have any photos, but we had a storyteller come to entertain us around the campfire.  She had two high school students with her who drummed along with the storytelling.  When this was over...and before retiring to our warm and cozy cabins, we had chocolate chip cookies made by Mikayla and her mom, Rachel.

What a great start to our outdoor school adventure!
