Painting pencil boxes

Sawyer

About 3 years ago, I bought these pencil boxes at Michaels.  Unfortunately for the last 3 years of classes, I never got around to letting the kids paint them.  Today...was the day!  It was Friday...the students had finished a math quiz much quicker than I had thought they would...

a perfect situation for box painting!

Out came the boxes, the paints, and the brushes...
 Isabella and Aliya
... we didn't have pink paint...so we mixed pink paint!
 Austin
...Um?  Do you think he's enjoying painting his box...or did I just catch him deep in concentration?
Amara
Amara decided to start off with orange...
 Ashlynn
Ashlynn also decided to start with orange..
 Hannah and Mikayla
Looks like Hannah and Mikayla both have a variety of colors on their boxes...

 David
David is going for the themed look...
Ian
Um?  Wonder what Ian is saying...and who he is saying it to?

 Elaine
Elaine looks like a peaceful painter...also with a variety of colors...
 Jade

I wish I had a picture of how Jade's had turned out.  She painted it all purple, then painted these adorable flowers on it.
 Zoe

Zoe was F-O-C-U-S-E-D!  She started by covering hers in white....
Trenton and Jason

Twins?  They're in opposite colors of their jersey....but it looks like they're painting their boxes identical....

Room 5 has already started The Mystery of the Disappearing Pencils.   (Not really)  Well, the mystery is...where in the world do all the pencils disappear to?

Typical:
'Mrs. Johnston, I need a new pencil.'
or
'Mrs. Johnston, I can't find my pencil.'

My usual response,
'Where is the pencil you were JUST using?'

'It's gone.'

Thus...the mystery of the disappearing pencils.

I'm hoping the pencil boxes may help to alleviate this mystery!
