Carol is with Room 5 for the second year in a row. I feel fortunate to have her with me again :)
She started by telling us that her mom picked the name 'Carol' just because she liked it. It was a happy name...thinking of things like Christmas carols... just a cheery name. She married a man named Harold...which, of course, is also a name in a Christmas carol...Hark, the harold angels sing!
In this first picture, Carol is showing us a picture of her grandson...who is in the 5th grade. He doesn't live here....but about 4 hours aways. She told us tht his hairstyle changes.
Carol was born in 1955, and at that time, there were different types of toys. She likes to collect different toys...and this one, is from Holland, Michigan. It has wooden shoes on it and it goes around. There was a discussion in room 5 on the colors of the shoes. There are red/white/blue, so some thought it was because of the USA, but Carol pointed out there are other colors, too...like yellow!
She also shared a card with an aerial picture of her mom's ranch in Montana...with a little inset photo of her mom on a tractor.
This is a birthday card from her grandson. When she opened it, it played music!
Carol told us she loves to read...she reads all different genres of books. Her whole family likes to read. One of her favorite authors is Jane Austen. She lived during the time of George Washington!
She shared some more photos of her grandson...some on a houseboat...and some photos of her niece...who is also in 5th grade.
In telling us more about her family, she told us she has two daughters. The youngest one is pregnant and due anytime! How exciting!
Carol likes to grow things, so she brought a package of seeds to illustrate. She comes from a long history of family members who grow things.
She had a spoon in her bag because she likes to eat...but doesn't like to cook too much.
Guess what this is?
Soap!
She and her husband make soap. She gave one to me and one to Ms. C! Thank you again, Carol! Her husband first started making soap because he had done it in school when he was about in the 5th grade.
Other things Carol shared were:
Mickey Mouse...because they LOVE Disneyland. They go whenever they can.
Crochet hook...because she loves to crochet.
Old little car...because they have an old car...they don't drive it much, but she likes it.
Amethyst crystal...because it's the birthstone of February, the month she was born. Carol likes to look for rocks. She usually finds lots of obsidian.
Miniatures...she likes to collect miniatures and also tea sets. She had a miniature tea pot to show us!
Watercolor...I had no idea Carol was a painter! She brought a watercolor she had painted...a flower...and it's beautiful! She first started painting in acrylics...then moved to oil...then to watercolors about 5-6 years ago.
Wow! We all learned so much about Carol!
Thank you again for the soap!
