Factor Captor

Knowing the factors of a number are so important!  To reduce fractions, you need to know factors...to divide, you need to know factors... to solve problems involving area and perimeter, you need need to know factors...  to understand the difference between prime and composite numbers, you need to know factors...

They're important!

The fifth graders have been learning divisibility rules...and so today we played 'Factor Captor'.
Player #1 would cover a two-digit number...and that number would be added to their score.  Player #2 would then cover all the factors of that number.  Player #2 would find the sum of the individual factors...and that number would be added to their score. Player #2 would then cover a two digit number...and #1 would cover all the factors.
 Different pairs had different strategies...
The goal, was to end with the highest score...
The fifth graders who don't know their multiplication facts really began to realize it more today...hopefully motivating them to study a little bit more every night...
What a fun game this is!
