Serenity

Serenity shared her bag and we learned a lot about her. I think the main thing I learned was how close she is to her family. Serenity brought some photos to share with us. She had some of herself at 3 months old (taken by her grandpa), at Disneyland when she was 4 years old...

at her mom's dad's ranch when she was either one of two years old...

at the beach...because she loves going to the beach...

with her uncle and Enzo, the dog, who is really big now!

another Disneyland picture...this time, Serenity was 6 years old. Here, she's standing with Pluto!

After the photos, we learned that Serenity likes all kinds of rocks. Here, she showed us a crystal skull. She told us her dad wanted her to have it in her bag. She told us this was special to her dad because she had given it to him.

This heart rock... Serenity told us her dad drove 3 hours to buy her a Wii, and on the way, stopped at a rock store and bought this for her.

Another rock her dad bought for her...

A slice of a geode from her dad... Serenity told us, "He likes getting me this kind of stuff."

Serenity told us her dad likes this pink one a lot.

This gold one is a good one to look up at the light...

She showed us how this is done...

Serenity brought a poker chip because she loves to play poker with her dad. She wins a lot! Some Room 8ers asked if they played for money. Serenity just smiled and said no.

Serenity has liked Hillary Duff since she was 3 years old. She brought a magnet of Hillary to show us.

This redwoods magnet was in her bag because she loves to go exploring in the redwoods looking for banana slugs. She and her mom find them and name them from A to Z! Now, how cool is that? My granddaughter, Thalia, love to do the same thing...except we've never named them. I think I'll borrow this idea from Serenity and her mom!

Serenity showed us this smooth rock, but she doesn't remember who gave it to her.
Why is this candy bar in her bag? It's her favorite! Some Room 8ers felt the same way.

Serenity also told us she has a coin collection, although she doesn't have many. She showed us a 'weird looking penny', and this 50 cent piece. She told us her mom wanted her to bring it, even though it's not very special.
This magnet was made by her dad's friend, Steve. Serenity actually climbed to the bridge in the picture!

Room 8 was intrigued with the magnet and wanted to see it better. Serenity was happy to walk around and give everyone a closer look.
We definitely enjoyed learning more about Serenity...and her wonderful collection of rocks!
