Cara... Room 8 was absolutely thrilled when Cara said she would share her bag with us! They clapped, they cheered...
Cara told Room 8 there might be a theme to her bag...
She started with these knitting needles, these cute knitting needles. She told us how she likes to knit, but she doesn't always just knit things like sweaters...
sometimes she knits things like bowls! Yep, she brought this bowl to show us. She likes to keep things in it.

Let's see, what is next?
Cara loves to travel. She went to Fiji, which is where this photo was taken, after a hurricane. In this picture, all that was left was a toilet... a picture of a toilet in Fiji!
This is a photo of her daughter, Carmen. Carmen is in the 8th grade this year.
Here is a photo of Carmen riding her horse. Cara wanted us to notice that Carmen had on a helmet. That's for safety! She also told us how the horse gets excited walking on the beach...so excited, that in this photo, Carmen got off and was walking with him. Cara told us being on the beach makes the horse feel younger. The horse's name is Tag-a-long.
This was a special photo that Cara had in her bag. It's a photo of AJ...and this was his first time to ride a horse! He looks like a professional, don't you think?
When Cara was younger, she grew up on a goat farm. She had no brothers or sisters, so she played with the goats! She lived on the goat farm about 15 years!

Cara also told Room 8 how she loves toys! She brought a toy horse to show us both how she loves toys and how much she loves horses!
A horseshoe! A small horseshoe...for a pony. Room 8 said, "It's for good luck!"
Another toy Cara brought was this Beanie Baby... a mountain lion Beanie Baby. Before working in our wonderful school, Cara worked with wildlife. She captured and put radio collars on mountain lions. She actually helped capture 9, with the largest one weighing 125 lbs! Cara told us mountain lions are very strong and fast, but a lot of people think they are larger than they really are.
Cara is the first Room 8er to bring a Beanie Baby! I wonder how many others have a collection of them ... maybe beside their huge collection of The Littlest Pet Shop toys???
Cara also likes to sew. She brought this tape measure to illustrate this. She taught herself to sew when she was 7 years old! Wow!
Cara brought this National Geographic magazine because it has an article on mountain lions.
She also told us that when she went to college, she received her degree in Zoology, the study of animals. Cara told us that -ology meant "the study of."
At this point, Connor informed us that he studied legos, so he had a degree in Legology!
In our spelling test today, our last sentence summed it up:
"We especially enjoyed Cara's bag!"
...and we did!
