Buddies!

 Thursday morning we met our first grade buddies for the first time!

 

We are buddies with Ms. W's first graders...

 and asking Room 5ers what they thought about their first buddy experience of the year...

 They said things like, "It was great!"  "My buddy is funny."  "My buddy is smart."  "It was so much fun."

 When Ms. W and I went to pair them up on Monday, she told me she had a sweetheart class.
I told her I had a sweetheart class.  So we knew, matching them up would be a piece of cake!

 

Every Thursday morning about 10:45 we will meet.

 This day, each person wrote their name on a piece of paper and drew pictures around it to represent themselves...Then the fourth grader kept the first graders and vice versa. 

 Usually, we will help the first graders with their math...

 or sometimes we'll help them with their reading...

 It just depends on what they need...

 After all, we're the BIG buddy...which means we're like a teacher to them...

 We talked about what it means to always be setting a good example for these little people...

 and how to handle it if they start to act up...or not pay attention...

 I think all the buddies are here except one.  We have one Room 5er who can't be on the blog,

 

so, of course, his picture isn't here...which means his buddy isn't here either...

 and we don't have Owen since he was absent...but we'll get him later!

  A couple of the first graders will have 2 fourth grade buddies since we have a few more students than Ms. W...

 What fun it is...what fun it will be...to help our buddies and to get to know them through the year!

 We were definitely excited to see them, but according to Ms. W., the little people were just beside themselves to meet us!
