John

 Meet John!

John started with this "surfing thing" because he likes to surf.  He told us the first time he ever paddled out on a long board, he caught a wave and stayed up for one minute...almost!
I asked him what this 'surfing thing' was, and he explained it's the fin for the board.  We realized a long board would NOT have fit in his bag!
He also loves football.  He wore a football jersey since a trophy wouldn't fit in his bag either!  Actually, he said he didn't have the trophy yet...I think he must be confident that he'll win one!
Meet Chewbacca!  John loves Star Wars.  He told us his dad is really good at making the sounds Chewbacca makes.  Room 5 all started making the noise... oh boy!
Now this action figure was bought at a yard sale.  John said they only paid $20 for it and it's the third oldest action figure in the world!  He said it's a cool thing because when you pull the legs together, the action figure twists around and switches heads.  He demonstrated this multiple time for us.
This is a shark figure...because John likes sharks.  I was curious about a surfer liking sharks???

He also had a sock monkey which is also a sling shot.  He demonstrated...and then the sock monkey makes a yell...which it did..approximately 4,982 times!  (just kidding)  When John was packing his bag up, it kept doing it anytime anything touched it.  It was hilarious.

He also had a snap bracelet with Captain America on it.  John likes Captain America.  The bracelet can even change into a mystery one!
John modeled the goggles for us.  He said he used to like motorcycle riding, but then he hurt his leg.  He said his dad had made him go on his Uncle's girlfriend's motorcycle...which is the one he had his crash on.

He also had some dog tags that say "wrestle or die'.  He told us he had won first place in a wrestling tournament.

Knowing that he likes sharks, he also brought a shark necklace.  His mom brought it to him from Hawaii.  It has a shark tooth on it.  He also got a baby shark jaw that's preserved.  He said you can see where the teeth were coming in.
This is a camouflage watch that he got when he went clothes shopping.

He also had a "certain egg that you can't drop cause it's a special glass."  He showed us how it will change color if you hold it up to the light.
This is a "well, I think it's real gold cause it's so heavy" shark.  It was given to him by his grandpa when he was 5 years old.

John also had a wrestling man.  He showed us how if you push him down, he jumps up.

He had a tool that he really likes.  It makes lots of different tools in the one tool  It's kind of like a leatherman but it's not.

He showed us a 'tech deck' which his teacher had no idea about.  He said you use it to change wheels on fake skateboards.

He had a key...oops, can't say anymore.  John told me "don't put that on the blog."  OK, John!
CENSORED!

He also had an arrowhead that he found in his yard.  He told us he had a big yard, bigger than our classroom.  At that point, Room 5 had a lot of comparison questions for John.  'Is it bigger than..."

About his name.  He is a III after his dad and grandpa.  They are both John Michaels.  So John is the third generation to carry on the last name and, as John added, "I hope the generations keep going!"

So do I, John!

What a great job John did telling us stories to go along with the items he had in his bag.
