I might ask, 'Turn to your partner and tell them...." or when reviewing or teaching a lesson, I might ask, "Who would like to come up and solve this problem for us?" When this is done, I ask the students to 'think out loud'... meaning, I want them to tell us every single they're thinking to solve the problem.
Sometimes, if the 'teacher' gets stuck or makes an error, I'll ask, "Would you like some help?" If they do, I'll usually ask them to pick someone. In the photo above...we ended up with 3 guys up at the overhead at the same time... 3 heads are sometimes better than one!
Phoebe was explaining some math to us... think it was subtraction...
