 Everyone is a teacher...hopefully a teacher of something good!  In Room 5, students are often called to be teachers.

I might ask, 'Turn to your partner and tell them...."  or when reviewing or teaching a lesson, I might ask, "Who would like to come up and solve this problem for us?"  When this is done, I ask the students to 'think out loud'... meaning, I want them to tell us every single they're thinking to solve the problem.

Sometimes, if the 'teacher' gets stuck or makes an error, I'll ask, "Would you like some help?"  If they do, I'll usually ask them to pick someone.  In the photo above...we ended up with 3 guys up at the overhead at the same time... 3 heads are sometimes better than one!

On a side note, Alexis' hair was so cute this day.  When I asked her how in the world her mom fixed it the way it was, Alexis told me she saw it on YouTube! 

Even YouTube can be a teacher!
